Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks while answering the question on Tehran’s position towards Riyadh as an influential player in the region, IRNA reported.
Acknowledging that the two countries enjoy enormous potentials to help regional countries overcome terrorist threats, Iranian official expressed optimism about the future of both countries’ relations.
Calling terrorism as the most important problem of the region, Amir-Abdollahian pointed to the weak or incompetent governments in the region as the basic problem on the way of eradicating terrorism from the region.
He said that lack of effective cooperation among regional countries as well as weakness of certain regional states were key factors leading to a security and political gap in western Asia.
Amir-Abdollahian regretted that certain regional countries are linked to the Takfiri and terrorist groups which are in turn working with some intelligence services out of the region.
He added that extremism and violence would benefit no regional state.
Amir-Abdollahian also stressed that preventing foreign interference in the regional affairs is a key factor in overcoming current security crisis in the region.
He reiterated support for regional countries including Iraq and Syria, in their fight against any form of terrorism and said Tehran would help any other country solve its problems in dealing with the dilemma whether in the region or anywhere else in the globe.
